It hasn’t changed much though and probably needs a lick of paint. However one thing worth doing is to go there in October to see the illuminations. I thought they’d be really tacky but they are brilliant! It’s about 3km of Christmas lights without the Christmas theme. This video is an example of what to expect.

At a market in Manchester, this former actor is now selling...

At a market in Manchester, this former actor is now selling cheese. He is right that I had no idea he now made cheese. However, I never knew what he did before that either. My sources inform me he was Gail Platt’s husband in Coronation Street. I presume this is a fate worse than making cheese and selling it on market stalls while clinging on to minor former celebrity.

I think it’s time I admit that I suffer from a rare...

I think it’s time I admit that I suffer from a rare disability. I’m not sure if there’s a medical term for it but I call it 3DDD, 3D Deficit Disorder. In other words, I cannot see 3D images in films. While everyone is oohing and aahing at all those things “flying” in their faces, I see a flat 2D surface. I am going to apply for resource hours and an SNA.

A symbol of Ireland?

A symbol of Ireland?

"Everybody thinks they can be a chef, a photographer and a teacher because they cook their dinner,..."

“Everybody thinks they can be a chef, a photographer and a teacher because they cook their dinner, own a camera and went to school.”

If you’re in Dublin near St. James’ hospital and you...

If you’re in Dublin near St. James’ hospital and you like very large muffins in lots of different favours, the Yu Cafe in James Street is worth a visit.

The bumper crop from our tomato plant

The bumper crop from our tomato plant

Last night I sat down and watched Red or Black for the first...

Last night I sat down and watched Red or Black for the first time. In my defence, I was in someone else’s house and they were watching it. There’s only so many times you can go to the bathroom to escape something before people think you have problems. As TV shows go, this show must rank up there with “Deal or No Deal” in terms of the fact that both shows take too long to get to the end. Both shows rely completely on luck and absolutely no skill. Then again, I’m sure some genius will come along in a while and claim to have solved the riddle of which box to open or which colour to pick. Now where’s the button on my remote? Ah, yes…it’s the red one.

Jarvis Cocker at the Electric Picnic 2011

Jarvis Cocker at the Electric Picnic 2011
