Blackpool used to be a holiday hotspot back in the day. It hasn’t changed much though and probably needs a lick of paint. However one thing worth doing is to go there in October to see the illuminations. I thought they’d be really tacky but they are brilliant! It’s about 3km of Christmas lights without the Christmas theme. This video is an example of what to expect.

A Grammar Nazi Nightmare
In my job I get about a dozen emails every day from companies trying to sell me something. Most people don’t open these emails and, in general, I don’t either. However, one email I received from a company selling some sort of training caught my eye as it started with the following line:
Dear principle
It continued:

Hollister - so cool, it doesn't need a sign
I walked into a clothes shop called Hollister yesterday in the Dundrum Shopping Centre. I had heard about the hype surrounding the shop when it opened and on further reading, realised that this shop doesn’t really cater for the likes of me. To my eyes, it reads very much like Abercrombie and Fitch, which probably makes me even more uncool.
Anyway, in the middle of the shopping centre...
Isn’t it well for you?

Why I left Airtricity
I’ve been with Airtricity since May 2010 when I switched from ESB for my electricity. With the service I saved about €12 per month so when I was offered to switch from Bord Gas in January this year, I jumped at the chance to save again. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out that way.
Thanks to online banking I could see that Airtricity were not saving me any money. In fact, my bills were...
The Monart: Ticking all the Boxes but...
There’s really no way of saying that I stayed in the Monart without sounding pretentious. Since we started our jobs as principals, once a term, Rozz and I treat ourselves to one or two nights in a posh hotel to get away from it all. We generally find a deal on the web for a random fancy hotel and head off for some spa therapy. We’ve stayed in some great places. I can highly recommend...

Did I just live through something very historical?
I didn’t take much notice of the Queen’s visit to Ireland when it was being arranged. I guess, like most people, I hoped that it would pass peacefully and there wouldn’t be the same scenes we saw during the “Love Ulster” parades a few years ago. I didn’t really think it was such a big deal. That was until tonight, when watching the 9 o’clock news.

– Clearly the journalist who interviewed Charles Hawkins didn’t see the irony in his remarks.
